RC CHURCH
ECCLESIASTICAL
CHELSEA

A+K were the architects and project managers involved in the major overhaul of a Catholic Church Rectory in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea for the diocese of Westminster.

Completed in April 2009, this extensive and absolutely essential renovation of the Grade 2 * 130-year old Rectory building designed by John Francis Bentley, contains the Blessed Sacrament chapel designed by Edward Pugin and is at the heart of the catholic community in Sloane Square. Each room was meticulously restored to its original grandeur and upgraded to meet the modern needs of this energetic, affable parish.

The bespoke colour palette supplied by Farrow and Ball, was chosen with help by the award winning designer Ann Tyrrell MBE. Her use of colour brought out a modern, sympathetic character to the building, ensuring it maintained a rich architectural heritage within its opulent settings. This project was difficult to manage from an office environment and to overcome this many hours were spent on site overseeing works to guarantee everything was finished to the highest standard.
