A+K undertook a sketch scheme for the Derbyshire Pennine Club. Their club hut, which dates back to the mid 19th century, is used as their base for climbing and caving in the area. The existing accommodation did not meet building regulations regarding means of escape and a new staircase was required along with additional space designed specifically for washing and storing their climbing and caving kit.
This scheme involved a small extension housing the new staircase, and a reconfigured entrance porch with linked outbuilding, all sensitively designed in a style and in materials to match the existing old cottage.
